JESS BERTO    ARTISTIC DIRECTOR   Jess is Artistic Director of Andiamo Dance Company, as well as a company dancer and choreographer. She began her dance career right here in Ketchikan at Ketchikan Theatre Ballet. At the age of sixteen she left home to continue her dance training at the performing arts high school, Idyllwild Arts Academy in Idyllwild, California. Upon graduation, Jess continued her education and dance training in New York City at Marymount Manhattan College. She soon transferred to University of Arizona where she graduated Cum Laude with a B.F.A. in Dance.  Jess then moved to Denver and danced with 7Dancers and taught all levels and styles of dance at Cherry Creek Dance. She also freelanced with 3rd Law Dance and Evolving Doors Dance, both based out of Boulder, Colorado. Jess has also studied at San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Alvin Ailey, Dance New Amsterdam, Steps on Broadway, Peridance, and Broadway Dance Center. Dancing at each of these locations provided her the opportunity to work many incredible artists including: Summer Lee Rhatigan (Artistic Director of San Francisco Conservatory of Dance), Christian Burns (Co-founder of The Foundry), Leslie Browne (Principal with American Ballet Theatre), and many more.

ELIZABETH AVILA    DANCER   Elizabeth began her dance training at Ketchikan Theatre Ballet. She earned a BFA in dance in 2005 from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. After completing her degree, Elizabeth danced with Pivot Dance Company in Portland, Oregon. Through the years, she has been fortunate to perform with various companies and choreographers in the Pacific Northwest, New York City, and Europe. Elizabeth has since become a 3rd grade teacher and earned her Masters degree in elementary teaching from the University of Alaska, Southeast. Elizabeth is thrilled to be dancing with Andiamo Dance Company and working with a group of women she admires immensely.

Elizabeth is an experienced teacher and has taught in schools and studios across the country; including the University of California, Irvine, where she served as an instructor for the Claire Trevor School of the Arts.  Elizabeth completed her Master of Fine Arts degree in Dance at the University of California, Irvine in 2018. While at UCI she had the honor of studying with distinguished professors such as Loretta Livingston, Lar Lubovitch, and Tong Wang.  Elizabeth currently serves as the Executive Director for Ketchikan Theatre Ballet.

MEGHANN VINCIE KING    DANCER   Meghann Vincie King began her dance training at Staunton Academy of Ballet in Virginia. Meghann was a member of the Cincinnati-based modern dance company MamLuft&Co. Dance for the 2009-11 seasons. In addition to company performances at the Aronoff Center’s Jarson-Kaplan Theatre, she performed at the Cincy Fringe Festival and Dialogues in Dance. She also performed in freelance works at Choreographers Without Companies/Area Choreographers Festival in Cincinnati and Moving Collective in Louisville, KY. Meghann choreographed and presented work in several Performance and Time Arts Shows at the local Contemporary Dance Theater. After moving to Ketchikan in summer 2017, she resumed choreographing and dancing in her work at the 2018 Gigglefeet Dance Festival. She is excited and honored to be a part of the dance community here in Ketchikan as a member of Andiamo Dance Company. Outside of dancing, Meghann loves to spend time with her husband, four-year old daughter and two-year old son exploring the beautiful nature Southeast AK has to offer.
